Imagine this. As a Pearson intern, you'll get real-world experience that you won't find in the classroom from one of the world's greatest publishers.

Internships are compensated at a competitive rate and last 10 weeks during the summer. Whether you decide to pursue an internship in editorial, marketing, production, or sales, you'll gain an insider's view of the publishing process. A key component of our internship program is honing your business skills; you'll become deeply engaged in your projects by applying what you've learned in college.

About the Program

Two people holding a sign with Pearson logo printed upon itThe Pearson Higher Education Summer Internship Program runs every summer beginning in late May and ending in early August. In addition to the valuable experience the student will gain from working in the corporate environment of a global publishing company, he/she will work closely with a mentor, participate with other interns in workshops geared toward career development, and make networking connections for possible employment after graduation. The work schedule is full time (35 hours a week), Monday through Friday. Pearson Interns are compensated at a competitive hourly rate.

As a Pearson intern, you'll also have an opportunity to participate in our self-marketing training program that involves:

  • Orientation session focusing on timeliness and preparedness
  • Résumé writing and interviewing sessions
  • Mid and final program evaluations
  • Delivering a final presentation to other interns, mentors and senior Pearson executives

Internship opportunities exist in our Editorial, Production, Marketing, and Sales departments. Our internships are located in the these facilities: US Corporate office at Upper Saddle River, NJ, Boston, MA, Madison Avenue, NYC, and Old Tappan, NJ.

After going through our internship program, you'll be given higher level of consideration for future internships and full-time employment once you graduate.

Requirements

An ideal candidate for Pearson's Internship Program...

  • is actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program at a four-year college or University (candidates actively enrolled in a publishing-specific Masters program will also be considered)
  • exhibits academic excellence: 3.0 GPA or higher
  • possesses outstanding writing, communication, and telephone skills
  • has excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (internships in Production and Marketing may require knowledge of Macintosh operating systems)
  • is motivated to exceed personal and professional expectations
  • is curious about the publishing process and the development of both traditional and electronic forms of intellectual property
